"Jezebel," presented here for the fir-t time hsi r i-ht, is the career of a Mi.xi.-iti wn'iiro-', She js the waiting r ..man iu a lady who is drowned on a voyage from Mexico to Prance, all on board the ship perishing per-ishing except the waiting woman and two of the crew. A-auming the name of her mistress she mixes in good society, soci-ety, captivates, and is married to George d' Artigues, While married she pur.-ue a course of guilt, and for a paramour whom her husband kills in a duel, attempts to poison that Husband. Her murderous design is foiled, a fact of which she is kept in ignorance, and by the dector who pretends to cover up the murder the is banished to South America, he accompanying her. D' Artigucs thus left alone marries a lovely and affectionate girl named Gretchen, who has a fiery old sea-captain of an uncle, Captain Breitman; and he, having the strongest faith in his niece, fights three d'ih in South America because of supposed calumnies heaped upon Madame d'Ar-tigues, d'Ar-tigues, the adventuress being the woman referred to while ho brieves her to be his niece. Breitman and tho adventuress are brought face to j face, when he discovers his mistake, 1 and forbid.4 her u-ing the name she bears. Iu the interview she learns that George lives and is married. She returns to Prance, discovers his abode, presents herself there, and claims her position ad its mistress and his wife. At the last moment when her triumph appears assured, her real husband appears in the person of Cristol, whose j marital experiences with two wives and a hanging have formed the comic vein of the piece, and aided the underplot; and the adventuress is foiled on every hand. Miss Ada Gray gave a Gne impersonation of this Jezebel; Mr. Cbaplin, as George, had not a very cftectivo part but made the most ot it; Miss Walters made Gretchen a prominent pro-minent l'eature when on tho stag?; while Mr. Graham as Cristol, Mr, Thorno as Breitiuan, and Mr. Marden as Palma, brother to the Jezebel, were vory happy, ludced alt tho characters charac-ters were well rendered, and the piece was successfully played. Tho "Rough Diamond" followed, in which Miss Gray as Margery and Mr. Margetts as Joe created an immense amount of mirth. "Jezebel" will bo repeated to-night for the last time, followed by "Sketches in India," Miss Gray and Mr. Chaplin appearing in both pieces.
