Show UTAH MINING COMPASJ RE- PORT. We estraot tho following from the annual report of J. R. Murphy, superintendent super-intendent of the Utah mining company, com-pany, Bingham canyon, which appeared ap-peared in the London Aiming World of Juno Sth : "Subjoined I beg to submit for your consideration my report on the progress, pro-gress, condition and prospects of the company's property here, covering the first lour months of my management, from January 1st to April 30th of the present year. --Red --Red Warrior mine : As will be seen per statement, the greater portion of the work done haa been directed to the opening of this mine. The reasons for this course is in the lesser amount I of water found in it, leaving it practio-1 able to sink thereon, in the absence of and pending the erection of hoisting and pumping machinery, while in the other lodes the volume of water was found to be such as to exclude the possibility of prosecuting work further than aa set down in the tables referred to. The first downward development on the j property was commenced by an inclined shaft known as winze .No. 1 on the li'th of January last Thia winze waa car-I car-I ried down to a depth of seventy-six j feet, when the water increased to such I extent as to prevent further sinking. ! The mineral exposed ibr the first tnirty-six leet in the course ot the incline in-cline was a compact mass of galena, at which point a cross-out was run to define de-fine the thickness of the vein, which proved to be eighteen feet. Two levels run on the course of the lode a distance dis-tance of thirty-sis feet, showed it (the mineral) to he continuous. From this point downward as sinking sink-ing progressed, the vein showed about one-half galena, the remainder of the vein stuff being pyrites and silicioua matter to a depth of oOfcet. Another cross was run at right angles of the lode, where a vein of 20 feet thick, with 10 feet of ore, was exposed. In the course of the further sinking on this mine for a distance of 15 feet the vein stuff was comparatively barren of mineral, at the end of which a belter class of galena began to bo met with than had been found in the mine to this time, increasing rapidly for a distance dis-tance further down of 10 feet, where the same class extended the full width ot tho incline. At this point all further attempts at sinking became useless from the How of water and looseness of the vein stuff when work was stopped to await the completion of the hoisting works. A level is being run from the bottom of this winze to connect with the main shaft at a distance of 10 feet eastward, 04 feet of which was run to April 3o.
