Show (Bv W, U. Teleiraph.) COOKED ERIE EARNINGS. New York, 7. At the legislative inquiry into Erie railway affairs today, to-day, a letter was read from John Williamson Wil-liamson and Frederick S Grammer, ex-clerks, promising to show if the bocks were produced that the company's com-pany's statement of freight and passenger pas-senger earnings was greatly exaggerated. exagger-ated. After the reading of the letter the clerks were called, and testified that while they could not point to epeoifio inaccuraces in the absence of the books, they were satisfied that the returns of agents wore cooked, that a dividend might be declared, as the earnings ot the road in 1&72 were not as large as in 1671. |
