Governor Weston, to day, in his inaugural address ad-dress said: It is an occasion of congratulation con-gratulation that the Union is restored, and that all citizens are entitled to protection in the rights guaranteed by the Constitution; and it behoves all to endeavors to cultivato those relations of amity in wliich tho Union had its origin, and which must be fully restored re-stored if we would realize the obvious advantages which the Union was designed de-signed to secure. However diverge the interests of different sections of tho country may appear, they are really identical and the utmost hopes of the Union will never be realized until we feel ourselves to be one people, and until we are equally careful of our good name and equally jealous of the rights ' of all. Let us cherish with caro a! steady devotion to the Union, and alii those sentiments of fidelity, chai ity and I brotherhood which alone can make the Union blessed. |
