Show Theatre. The Berger Finally & Sol Smith Russell made tKir first appearance ap-pearance here last night, and of their entertainment we have not a word to Bay that is not eulogistic The eDtire company are stars, each in his or her fine, and their programme, while largely musical, is as varied as attractive. attract-ive. The bell-ringing, in delicacy of touch and celerity of manipulation, is the equal of anything of the kind we have ever heard, and the vocal and instrumental in-strumental solos, and concerted pieces, were very finely executed. The cornet band, composed of eight instruments played by five ladies and three gentlemen, gentle-men, is a strong attraction, and the ladies play a variety of instruments through the programme with grace and finish. Sol Smith Russel as a humorist humor-ist is a host in himself, and was compelled last night to decline the repetition of encores which while irrat-ifying irrat-ifying were too numerous. Those who desire to enjoy a musical and humorous treat combined, should see the Berger combination. |
