In the estimate ! furnished the morning papers of the I cost to carpet the new Court House I throughout, by one of the first houses in the city, the sum of $13,o57.1o is set down as the amount necessary to cover that expense. The amount actually ac-tually charged to the city is 535,018.46. The Tiiius this morning thinks it is Gov. Hoffman's duty to institute proceedings pro-ceedings against the men who have stolen money from the eity treasury. It fears that the present district attorney at-torney is too intimately connected with i the "ring" to act in the premises, except ex-cept upon compulsion; and therefore : if Gov.;Iiofi'man will take the initiative ; he can disprove the insinuations, that he ha.s aided in tho schemes of the i "ring." |
