On motion of .John M. Murphy, of the Jennie nnd Azure Queen mines, tho following preamble and resolution was unanimously adopted. Whereas The hill heretol',,,,; called by the name of ''Shoo-Fly hill," never having received legally or properly a name i'roiu miners at any miners' meeting, meet-ing, therefore, liesolvcd, That wc, miners and parties par-ties interested in mines on said hill, in Dry canon, Ophir mining district, do hereby name the same "Jacob's Hill," and the secretary of this meeting is hereby authorized aud requested to have this resolution recorded at the oflicc of the recorder of Ophir mining district. On motion, the pecrolary was requested re-quested to send copies of proceedings j of this meeting to the Salt Lake Herald, Salt Lake Ra tew and Salt Laki'- Tribune for publication. Dry Canon, Ophir Mining District, I Utah Territory, j The undersigned miners, prospectors I and parlies tnterc-.tcd in this locality, ! hold and maintain llie following pnjpo- sitions, viz: j That the interest and welfare of all ; persons who are engaged either as 1 prospectors in discovering and locating claims, or as purchasers in developing and working the satin, are mutually i dependent on each uIIut: That a fair compliance wilh, and si riel observance ol', llie mpiireinenls : ' of the miuiug ia.ws, an adopted and re- : corded in the district, should be main- j tained in good faith and honest, inten- ' , tion: That jumping or relocating mines, as sometimes done lor the purpose oi getting up controversies on old, doubt-fill doubt-fill and pretended prior claims, or for . driving a bargain and levying black- I mail on recent purchasers, or for hold- ; j iug possession by force and intimida-' i tion, only ;-o long as the jumper y work llie miiiu proIUnhly, or nppor- j tunily to sell out may oiler, are practices practi-ces highly injurious to any camp, and eboukl 1m pvorj'wlioro donounood nml discouraged: That whenever an honest dispute or controversy, about mining locations or j working mining claims arises, a resort to injunctions and fostering vexatious lawsuits is detrimental to the entire camp, retarding development of the locality, hindering or keeping away capital from investment, and in the end generally eurichos lawyers and court oiliccrs at the expense, and sometimes at tho ruin of parties litigant, and should be deprecated and avoided. Therefore, we adopt the following resolutions : First Resolved, That in discovering, discover-ing, locating and holding mining claims iu this canon, we will mutually maintain and require, on the part of every person, a strict compliance with tto mining laws of the district to be carried out in good faith and honest intent. Seoond Resolved, That an habitual jumper of mining claims wc hold in contempt, and we equally denounce the practice of setting up old and defunct de-funct locations, or pretended prior claims, long after new and genuine discoveries dis-coveries and actual developments have demonstrated the vuluc of mines; and against all such in the camp wo pledge to each other our united opposition and warfare. Third Resolved; that in the case of an honest difference as to.'priority of claims, or genuineness of vein or lode, we advise and recommend a submission of matters in controversy lo an arbitration arbitra-tion or committee selected from ruiner3 in the district, or a mutual agreement on a compromise, believing that if any mine is worth going to law about, it will pay far more to climants holding honest rights to adjust tho conlrovorsy in good faith and work the mine without going to law.
