Show A Happy Country. A gentleman sending a subscription to the Herald from Treasuro City, White Pine, in-closoi in-closoi postage Btamps, and says, "There are no greenbacks here." Happy country ! Coin jingles loose in the pocket or hangs heavily in tho well-secured well-secured wallet. Well, postage stamps will do for a time; they don't live long in the Herald office, with a large correspondence and post-paying papers going out of the United States. Still, post office orders are just as acceptable. Benefit. Mr. Geo. 13. Waldron, the favorite young tragedian, will take a benefit on Friday evening at the theatre, and wo hope ho may have tho bumper house he deserves. The nature na-ture of tlie engagements at the theatre for somo time has prevented Mr. Waldron Wal-dron from playing those characters in which he appears to beat advantage, but all who aro acquainted with his abiliiy acknowledge his talent as a superior su-perior actor in the legitimate walks of tho drama. On Friday night he presents pre-sents "Lafittc, tho Pirate," to bo followed fol-lowed by "Ben Bolt." in which he will be supported by the strength of tho company, Mrs. Waldron also appearing. |
