Show RUNAWAYS, Yesterday morning & team was standing near tha Herald office, when one of the horses managed to get tho bridle off and they both started on the run. There was no one in tho wagon but a lady, who held on as well aa was possible, until a young man jumped in behind and helped to hold tho animals. Tha team was stopped noar tho Townsend House. In the afternoon there was a runaway, starting from L" as t Temple street and turning on to First South street. When oppoBito the Post office the wagon upset and was badly smashed, a portion only remaining attached to the animals, which dashed furiously along toward tho City Hall where they were stopped. Tho wagon was subsequently gathered up io fragments. The morning previous there was another an-other runaway down street, and almost every day sees some frightened animals endangering the lives of passers on the streets. Some more stronuous means will have to bo adoptod to prevent accidents ac-cidents arising from this cause. |
