Show The Absurdity of English Spelling. Spell-ing. How difficult it must be lor a foreigner to learn our language when we spell the same sound in a dozen different ways. Its arbitrary spelling is an abomination. Take the fullow ing example of the sound "oze," and we have it spelled thirteen different ways : Miss Rose Burroughs well knows her beaux have froze their toes, yet she pohs, and she sews, while she owes the Piumbaults for bureaus from Brown & Co.'s, at the depots ! Who will give us another specimen of the absurdity of English speLing ? |
