Show Twelfth Ward Concert. The concert in the 12th Ward on Monday-night Monday-night was a fine success, and Mr. Fowler Fow-ler merits unqualified praise for his labors la-bors in the cause of music in the ward. Between siity and seventy vocalists took part in the programme, including the ward choir ; but the most noticeable noticea-ble feature was the Einging of a troupe of children, from five to twelve years of age, and numbering some twenty-five. They rendered "The Frost," a glee, and other pieces, in excellent ex-cellent style. "I Know a Bank," by-Mrs. by-Mrs. A. Fowler and Miss A. Park ; "What ara the Wild Waves Saying "by Mr. W. II. and Mrs. A. Fowler ; and "Now we Pray for our Country," with 'TIail Smiling Morn," by the choir, were executed in a style that showed culture cul-ture and a fine appreciation of music. If we had any criticism to offer, it would be that there was a lack of bass. The recitations were also well given. To patronize such concerts and encourage en-courage the culture of music by the wards, is but to increase the appreciation apprecia-tion of and desire for that which is happifying and exalting in its tendencies. |
