Show .Nearly a Fire. Last evening at S o'clock, the bouk store of . our townsman, Mr. James Dwyer, was set oh fire by a coal oil lamp exploding aud setting the papers on and under the counter in a blaze, which spread rapidly, and the prospects for a few moments were that the stores adjoining adjoin-ing would soon be in jeopardy. By the prompt aud thoughtful exertions of some of our citizens, the fire was dragged out with the counter and James' stock was saved. Mr. Dwyer wishes to return his thanks to those by whose pro npt assistance as-sistance the fire was to speedily subdued. sub-dued. His loss is about Soui I. |
