Show Philharmonic Society. A Philharmonic Phil-harmonic society was organized in this city some weeks ago, having for its object ob-ject the advancement of musical taste nd its development in our Territory. From a circular just issued by the society so-ciety we learn that classes for instruction instruc-tion in vocal musio have been formed under the tuition of Professor George Careless, which meet in the Council House; the advanced vocal class and instrumental rehearsals on Monday evenings and the elementary vocal class and vocal rehearsals on Thursday evenings, even-ings, commencing at 7:30 p.m. The terms to the advanced vocal classes are $2 per quarter; the rehearsals being free to members of the society. The directors also announce their intention in-tention of forming a juvenile vocal in-I in-I struction class, to commence on Saturday Satur-day next in the Council House, at 1:30 j p.m., under the superintendence of Prof. John Tullidge, the tuition fee to ( which will be $1.00 per quarter. The i society solicit the attention of the superintendents sup-erintendents of educational academies , and Sunday schools to the opportunities opportuni-ties offered, by this juvenile class, for their pupils to obtain instruction in the elements of music, an art which has now become an essential branch of the education of the young. |
