Show A "Scf.ne" in a Theatre. In MoKean Buchanan's performance in Lexington, Kentucky, recently, tho orchestra or-chestra was composed of an nddle-headed nddle-headed votcran and a wheezy piano. Just at tho timo when tho murder of Duncan was being meditated the pinno struck up "Yankeo Doodle." The curtain rose, and Banquo stepped to the footlights. Still the piano played "YankeeDoodle. "Banquo said"Stop." The veteran at the piano was making so much noiso himsolf that ho didn't hear Banquo. Then Banquo laughed, aod tho audience laughed and cheered uproariously. Tho veteran thinking that tho cheers were for him, played with still more vim, "Yankee Doodle come to town," Banquo walked up to piano and said, "Stop?" and repeated it several times, but without effect, until he fairly screamed, "Stop the music, mu-sic, the curtain is up?" and gave the piano a kick. Then the truth crept into tho old gentleman's head, and he left tho seat amid cheers and laughter, while Banquo stood waiting to put in his speech, which he did in approved style, barring a slight grin at the absurdity ab-surdity of the situation. |
