Show A Flnb Map. Mr. Froiseth, of the Surveyor General's office in this city, showed us yesterday the finest map of Utah we have yet seen, embracing the latest official surveys in the Territory. It is drawn on a scale of ten miles to the inch, and shows the townships numbered from the base line at Salt Lake, there being forty-three south and fourteen north. The ranges are also marked, range nineteen being the furthest west, and range eight being the farthest east. The different ranges of mountains are correctly named; the location of lakes accurately marked, and most complete details are given for the student of the map. The surveys made this season include Rich, Morgan, Summit and Wasatch counties in the north ; and Millard, Beaver, Iron and Washington counties in the south. The map is prepared for the Department at Washington. Mr. Froiseth designs making a still larger map of the Territory this winter, drawn on a scale of six miles to the inch, which he will publish by subscription. sub-scription. It will be equally valuable for schools and private residences. |
