Show Fort Hall Indians. We had a call yesterday from Dr. J. Beagles, junr., of Fort Hall, Idaho, who was in towu on i brief visit. Ho is surgeon there, and has acted as Indian Agent, the post now being filled by Lieutenant Piinilsoo. Dr. Koaglo has had considerable con-siderable Indian experience in differ-out differ-out parts of the west, having been a length of time among the Cheyenne? and other tribes. Ho says there are about a thousand Shohones ou the Reservation at Fort Hall. They have two hundred and forty acres of land under cultivation ; throe good buildings for the whiles ; with a saw mill, a grist mill, a shingle mill and a planing mill. The Indians work well under their instructors, in-structors, and evince a disposition to cultivate civilised habits and live like whites. One of thorn can plow, plant and irrigate like an experienced hand. We had a very pleasant chat with the 1'octor, and wish him happy times at his Idaho resideuee. |
