The Tribune of this city, yesterday morning, contained an editorial concerning newspaper advertising adver-tising in Chicaito, in which it charges its cotcmporaries, and particularly the j Times with using improper and disre j pitiable means to compete with it for advertising patronage. The Times, this morning notices the editorial in a a slightly personal manner, saying Mr. Horace White is the responsible editor of the Chicago Tribune, The editor of the Times has hitherti been led to ibelieve Mr. Horace White to be a (more decent person than he is es j teemed to be by the generality of peo- pie, and has treated him as such in 'journalistic and personal relations. I The editor of the Times is impelled to acknowledge his error, and is also im-Ipelled im-Ipelled to denounce Mr. Horace White 'as a lying scoundrel and cowardly, dirty jdog.
