Show a aaaaaa aaaa-.. a I An Offer. This item is for those literary people who like to read their neighbors' pancrs: We have put the price of the Herald so low that we thought everybody could afford the subscription ; and though it is gratifying to know that our efforts are so much appreciated that the paper is eagerly sought after by those who do not subscribe, it is somewhat inconve nient for those who do subscribe to wait for the news while their neighbors read the borrowed Herald. If those who borrow the paper, with or without leave, will step up to our office, we will try and accommodate them, or make some kind of terms that will suit them if possible. Sale of Bibles. Rev. Mr. Reasoner, agent of the American Bible Society, informs us that he has sold in this territory, ter-ritory, since he commenced operations, seventeen hundred dollars' worth of bibles, and that the society through him has donated seven hundred and fifty dollars' worth, which at the cheap rate at which the bibles are sold, makes a large circulation of the sacred scriptures scrip-tures in the time. Still, many are yet unsupplied, families growing up and increasing rapidly, while large numbers num-bers of people have been aided to come here by means which excluded the carriage of any baggage but the absolute abso-lute necessaries of existence ; and the desire is to supply all. The bishops in the different parts of the territory are requested to maka out their reports of families needing bibles as rapidly as possible, and forward them to Mr. Reasoner. One Sunday school, that of the 9th ward in this city has con. tributed two dollars to the society's donation do-nation fund, an example which it is hoped other schools will follow ; and persons kindly disposed towards the good work are invited to contribute. |
