Show Keep Cool. Whereas, the hundred hun-dred and forty thousand- more or less inhabitants of Utah are individually and in the aggregate nobody; and, Whereas the only people in the Territory Ter-ritory worth counting are comprised within the limited circle of a "ring" in Salt Lake City; and, Whereas the "ring" isn't large but is trailing behind it a very long-tailed coat that somebody may tread on it; and, Whereas the "ring" feels itself competent com-petent to do any necessary amount of bullyragging and abusing, while usurping usurp-ing rights and privileges; and, Whereas, it only wants somebody to slap it in the face to give it a coloring for illegal, insulting and repulsive acts: and, Whereas, the doing so by any of the hundred and forty thousand more or less nobodies who have believed themselves inhabitants of this Territory Terri-tory would eet the "ring" on its feet again for a time, while it is now on its back making an effort for a last kick or two ; Now, therefore, we proclaim and de clare and recommend everybody to keep particularly cool at the present time, never minding the late dog days and present hot weather, and wait v.ith patience until the unclean animal called "the ring" is veritably and totally defunct, de-funct, and then employ several colored individuals of the race called American by African descent to give it such interment in-terment as may be deemed fitting. Given under our hand, this 29th day of August,, 1870, at Salt Lake, beforetime known as Salt Lake City : HUNK-I-DORI. |
