Show VlMTlNii. We had a pleasant interview in-terview yesterday with Col. Dwight Bannister, a paymaster of the Ij. S. army, who arrived from the east on Thursday evening. Col. Bannister is an old friend of Gen. Morrows, the commandant at Camp Douglas, with whom he served in the Yellowstone country- He has recently been stationed sta-tioned at Sioux city, and is now in route to Helena, Montana, to join the command com-mand of Gen. Gibbon as Paymaster. We regret to perceive that his health is somewhat impaired, but doubt not that the bracing air of this mountain region will soon restore him to his former vigor. The Colonel was visiting visi-ting with his friends the various objects ob-jects of interest in oar city, and seemed much pleased with the city and its surroundings. sur-roundings. He leaves this afternoon for Montana. We wish him a pleasant pleas-ant journey. |
