Show The Reason Why. The question has been asked, Why the Herald so plainly criticises some officials here and not others. The answer is very simple sim-ple ; Because their course demands it. The Herald cares nothing with regard re-gard to what a man thinks or believes. It does not care if he worships a black cat, or believes the devil to be the personification per-sonification of excellence, if he will only act right and honor his official position. po-sition. But when men wander from their sphere, leave their official duties, comparatively, to go to the dogs, and enter upon a senseless, embittered and narrow-minded crusade against a people peo-ple who in no way interfere with them and only wish to attend to their legitimate legiti-mate concerns, within the bounds of their inalienable rights, the Herald will direct public attention to such men, point out their derelictions, and, when necessary, hold them up to the public reprobation they merit. Let it be understood, plainly and distinctly, that the Herald is the uncompromising uncompromi-sing opponent of all shams, official or otherwise, and will continue to puncture punc-ture inflated gas bags until their col-1 col-1 lapse becomes permanent. |
