Show THE MERCUB MILL I TH YJ The Additions Completed and the Additons te I Plant Started Up t Mercur May 28T Mercur mill was completed yesterday afternoon and I the new machinery put in motion That the trial was satisfactory Is proved by I the fact that In the evening the flag floated at the top of the flag pole in front of the office the signal to the men that work at the mine would be resumed at the mine in the morning The new enginehouse is 36x50 feet and the 125 horse power for driving the crushers as well as the dynamo and engine for lighting will occupy this part of the building The dynamo will i be put in place in a few days and the I mill lighted tith electric light The I capacity of the dynamo is 100 lights and will be sufficient to light up the I I works as well as the offices etc I The crusher weighs 35500 pounds and i has a crushing capacity of 500 tons I I The ore passes through two sets of wall rolls after leaving the crusher I reducing I to the proper size The I old crusher is left in place and can be used in case of emergency I The ore bins are capable of holding 1000 tons so that a supply sufficient for the use of the rriil three days can be I kept on hand I Fortyseven tanks are now in place and six more will be put In the old engine house The ore is leached 60 I hours that time being the most profitable profit-able on rock now being treated The precipitating tanks are sufficient I for the needs of the company for some IP i o ctne nie Mercur company takes its cyanides and retorts them I thus tv mining ail the quicksilver in the product which besides paying a Pr ct l margfn on the extra labor involved I puts their cyanides in better condition The coraparistci between the mill a it Is at present and what it was five years ago is to say the least an evidence evi-dence of remarkable prosperity In the fall o 1S31 the company after vainly trying to save the gold by amalgamation amal-gamation put in four tanks giving the mill a capacity for leaching ten tons I per day From time to time additions have been made until now its daily output out-put will be 300 tons Another feature which speaks well for the company is the fact that the men who handled the tailings at the beginning still hold the contract and in other departments at both the mine and mill many ot their men have been with the company during al l the five years In which the i mine has had a practical existence The work of taking samples from all parts of the Brickyard for testing at the Golden Gate experimental mill has commenced In all 50 tons will be tried not as some have supposed to test whether the ore can be worked by the cyanide process for that part of it is a foregone conclusion but t determine how fine i must be crushed to obtain the best results the strength of solution so-lution required and the lengh of time necessary in leaching With this information in-formation at hand the directors will be In a position to act intelligently in the building of the mill I is estimated mated that the experiments will be completed in abut 20 days The mill will be built onthe hill near the Geyser and about COO yards further fur-ther up than at first intended The I cause oft the change Is that In mining drifts a fault ha been found where I the formation has dropped about 20 feet The mill will be built far enough I I north so that the ore ca be brought from both sides to ° the lowest print of j the vein where a incline will be run I The correction will not delay the build tog however a the new incline can be opened before the mill could be completed pleed Mr Moody of Ogden has been makIng an extensive examination of the TSocu and the company has decided to thoroughly thor-oughly explore the ground this summer Mr Moody has returned home for a few days to make some necessary 2r rangements and will commence active operations at once Dr E D Woodruff and W C B Allen paid a visit to Lion HUt thIs week and went over the Little Pltts T burg on which a survey is at present I being made With a thorough understanding 4 under-standing a to where they are at the work of development will be commenced I com-menced Inside of a week Superintendent Superintend-ent Hines of the Northern Light will I have men at work on the property and I a strike may be looked for before long |
