Gold leaf The Wa Revenue Tat Ta-t Ore and Bullion Silver and Lead Mining Notes i A big deal in Dexter was consummated consummat-ed in this city yesterday being nothing less than the sale of a big block of the stock of the corporation comprising the holdings of the ellknown law firm of Ellis Dickson Ellis being be-ing taken by Hon John Dern and E H Airis of the Mercur company while J S Lakin and his associates in the OD tion on the stock take the remaining shares the price paid being 125 a share In certain circles ft has been known lor some time that the deal was on and that the stock had teen tied up on an option the closing of the transaction transac-tion being delayed until after the return LI home of Mr Dern from Nebraska The transfer of stock however was made trser yesterday afternoon besides which several sev-eral blocks of floating stock were picked pick-ed up and as Messrs Den and Airis were previously quite heavily interested in the company I will be seen that the consummation of the deal and the taking up of the bond will place them in the position of being largely identified with this valuable val-uable Nevada gold producer and it is understood that an effort will be made to have Mr Dern assume the management manage-ment of the company and his appointment appoint-ment or election to this position would doubtless give universa satitfaction to the shareholders of the corporation and the public at large The Dexter from all reports is certainly cer-tainly the making of a great dividend payerg and those who have visited the I property of late state that its h sic I condition is very flattering with main I moth bodies of good milling gold ore insight in-sight while in portions of the mine deposits de-posits of high grade ore have been l exposed ex-posed the estimated value of which will run up into many thousands of dollars while the new stamp mil which is first class in every respect is being operated op-erated in a most satisfactory manner and at a high percentage of saving the cyanide plant also yielding handsome retuns the combined workings of the two mills practically saving all the metallic values in the quartz Dexter stock was in active demand yesterday afternoon when it began to be whispered on the streets that the deal had been put through and it was wanted before the close of business at cos 131 and even higher I TH HIGHLAND BOY SKELTER Final Payment Made For the Site Near the TB Sampler Yesterday Thomas Weir for the Highland Boy Mining company operating operat-ing at Bingham made the final Day meat and took the deeds out of escrow for 65 acres of ground which Is to be vfaed for the site for the smelter which the company will soon erect for the treatment of ores from the Highland Boy mine This is a very desirable piece of land and Is located about 1000 feet south of the Taylor 8 Brunton sampling samp-ling works at Pallas station a few miles south of Salt Lake City The plans and specifications for the smelter have not been completed as yet a Mr Weir states that it Is better ito i-to make desired changes and alterations altera-tions of the works on paper rather than after the plant is under way or after it has reached the stage of completion but he is sanguine that everything will be complete as far as the plans ae concerned within the next two or three weeks and that then the vork of excavation exca-vation for the foundations will begin when the work of construction will be pushed as rapidly as possible In referring to the mine Mr Weir stated that tunnel No r had just been started the si e being loT feet vertically verti-cally below tunnel No 6 and he also informed a representative of The Herald Her-ald that in tunnel No6 at a point 700 feet from its mouth crosscutting had begun and that the showing of mineral was all that could b desired During the meeting of the International Interna-tional Mining congress next week the company will set a day apart for the entertainment of the visiting delegates and it Is believed that a large number will avail themselves of the opportunity of visiting this great copper property which without doubt and from all indications in-dications will be a formidable rival of the wonderful copper producers of Montana Mon-tana and Michigan On the occasion of this visit it is proposed to have the workings of the mine illuminated by electricity BACK ± ROM NEBRASKA Pleased With the Utah Mineral Exhibit Ex-hibit at Omaha Exposition Hon John Dern president of the Mercur and GeyserMarion Mining companies who returned
