Show AHERICAN MURDERED He Met His Death at the Hands of Foreigners NEWARK N JMay 19Miles L Kinney of this city connected with the Honduras Trading company of New York has just reached home after af-ter a trip to Honduras and brings news of the murder of an American named Walton E Stalee Mr Kinney met Stalee on board a ship while bound from New Orleans to Honduras On arriving at Puerto Cortes they landed and traveled together about thirty miles inland Then Mr Kinney went forward to the interior while Stalee was to go into the mountains This was in September last Two weeks ago Mr Kinney passed through Puerto Cortes again on his way home and there met William Little Lit-tle the American consul who informed him that his companion on the inland trip had been murdered Stalee was found dead not far from Puerto Cortez Cor-tez with a bullet hole in his head He is supposed to have been robbed as he is known to have had 6000 and this was not found on him when the body was discovered Stalee was a brother of John Stalee of New Brunswick He had not been here since 1864 For a number of years he was engaged in carrying the mail for the government between two posts in the west He also served as a scout under General Custer |
