every ever thing Is not moving along to a successful success-ful outcome in our new camp Since my last letter enough work has been done here to establish beyond a doubt the value and extent of some of the ledges On the Comstock No 4 a tunnel has been run Which cut the vein at 90 feet At the present writing the tunnel is in ore for 19 feet and there are no evidences k evi-dences of approaching the hanging tJ fes TOe i wall The ore is of fine texture free nilling and assays show an average value of 12 to the ton in gold As soon as the wall is cut the vein will be drifted upon and developed on a large seal The Comstock No4 is one of the properties of the Eagle Valley Mining Min-ing company The Italian is rot r-ot this companys big properties A tunnel on this property is in ore for 32 fe < outlining the vein at right angles all of which carries good values A recent assay of the face of the I tunnel in the Red Eagle which carries the some lead a the Italian showed an average of 16 to the Mammoth mine at Deer Lodge belcnging to Johnson Campbell and Lund is proving to be all that its name Implies The tunnel is now in run nng on the ledge for over 100 feet all In ore A crosscut has been run for 40 feet and is In good milling ore all of the distance This ore will average at least S per ton in gold I is not known how much wider the ledge will be beDeer Lodge is growing quite rapidly A number of new houses have been built lately and families brought in Colonel Aikin is now at Deer Lodge and has commenced work on the Lytle group which he has bonded He expects ex-pects to develop i into a big property at no distant date A force of men are at work above Deer Lodge developing some springs with a view to piping the water to Nelson four miles distant Mr Ben Johnson has been down toG A to-G ampbells ranch looking after it in the absence of the foreman for a few weeks Mr Johnson says he likes mining better than ranching and will soon be back again in the hills Mr Jesse Knight and W J McBur ney were over from Stateline a few days ago and were delighted with the prospects of Nelson Nelson Is making a start and will soon have a saloon and livery stable A number of residences are contemplated contem-plated There is considerable activity about a mile east of Nelson a number of good claims having been located there recently cently by parties from Stateline The finds are just east of what is known as Johnsons well The ledges are very lit l from fIve feet to 80 feet in < fve width The values run from 2 to 130 in gold There are a number of parallel paral-lel ledges Among those from State line who have made locations there are Tom core R J Nugent Ike HIgbee Jesse Knight W J McBurney Drake and the Leamaster brothers I is rumored that W J McBurney will to Nelson soon
