thing when they secured a lease on the Minnie Moore tailings dums The Times says John varcoe and Hill Ballentine who haveleased the tailings dump of the Minnie Moore company are doing quite well They are shipping about I a carload of concentrates a week work ins only one shift and five men to a shift They cannot get water to do more at present I they could set water they could work 50 even 100 men In a little while they expect to get enough water to at least double their output But in the meantime they must go slow The dump or reservoir Is 40 or 5 feet deep For the top 15 or 16 feet the tailings ore quite poor the silver and lend having leached through or been precipitated to the lower 25 or 30 feet These are rich however nearly as rich as the ore first taken out oft of-t e mine In the early days the appli ances were crude and the ways wasteful waste-ful hence the best part of the values in the ores frequently went to the tailings ings diimo There are between 200000 and 250000 tons of tailings In the Minnie Moore dump that can be worked Drofitably I ana as sac as can ue uuiermuieu unless un-less a large additional water supply is l secured It will take Messrs Ballentine
