article on I judiciary a recess was taken rrom 12 jdica U 2 oclock But two hours did not ffSm to be long enough to suit the jiuxurious ideas of the members I the wait for he beginning of the morning session had been monotonous and provoking voking the wait in the afternoon after-noon was irrascible The hour for meeting found only a few of the standbys present Among them were such boys as Farr Jlaeser Hughes and Hammond who showed a good example to men a score of years younger Minute after minute passed and member after member came straggling in slowly but at 230 the necessary ne-cessary 54 had not put in their appearance appear-ance Hart grown tired of this dilatoriness dila-toriness asked for a roll call He said he wanted to see just who were attending attend-ing to bis ness and just who were not 1 The api Mance of the hall with its dozens ot empty chairs however gave ample evidence of lack of legislative energy r typified by a quorum and on Q d 2 < suggestion of Cannon the sergeantat arms was sent out to hustle in the recalcitrants He and the entire force hunted through the committee rooms corridors and neighboring streets but with little hopE Finally the secretary began calling the roll and by the entrance en-trance of Barnes just as the call was finished a sufficient number were shown to be present To Reduce the Judges The judiciary article was again taken up on revision and Boyer moved a suspension of the rules in order to fix salaries of judges at 2700 instead of 3000 He was voted down heavily When the convention had finished the article on the judiciary as well a the one on education Goodwin raised a kick at the way in which the convention con-vention was revising the work of the committee on compilation and revision I He moved that the committee be honorably hon-orably discharged but did not get a second After the article on apportionment had been rushed through and a quorum quor-um had melted away an adjournment was taken from 5 oclock until 10 this morning Before the members went out it was ermined that the convention should take a junket to Saltair at 2 oclock this afternoon aferoon I |
