Show another pioneer gone to rest in the death of mary F call which mccu tuesday evening ZD october fth at p in bountiful lost one of its very earliest settlers a distinguished pioneer and the mother of five generations she was the wife of the late anson call and alie mother of bishop chester call the there re were only three or four women in bountiful when she settled here with her husband over afif fifty ty three years ago a go she has lived here continuously since except at the time of tile the move south when johnsons army came through here durin during this time she has truly seen some great changes tile the town of her adoption has hag t grown rown from about six individuals to inhabitants and she has wi witnessed dnesse d it all come about she had some of the hardest experiences known to the latter day saints who were driven from their homes in tile the east in addition to the hardships and privations that sho she endured in common with the rest of her re she lost three of her children who perished from exposure and privation while jlee ilee in ing from their persecutors deceased died of old age and general debility being over eighty nine years of age she had been ailing two or three years and was bedfast about i three months durin during her last illness she suffered a great deal mary F P call was the daughter of rufus and hannah haws flint and born at Vrain tree vermont march 17 7 1812 being tile the young essof a family of seven children at the age 0 of nineteen she n moved with her fathers fat liers family to the state of libio where on oct 3rd ard i 1833 sho she was married to anson call her two oldest children A V call who died on the plains in 1867 while ret returning from a mission to Fl england and her daughter mrs mary V park paris who has been living with and waiting on her mother the past two years wore were born in that state she and her husband were baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints at kirtland same state may 1836 by william smith a krother brother to t the ie prophet joseph and confirmed con firme d irl in the kirtland temple by divid whitmore Whit moro one of the witnesses of the book of mormon after joining tile church they moved to kirtland they moved with the saints from kirtland to missouri and to illinois in 1848 excised the plains with an ail ox team and arrived in salt lake city sept three days af after tei arriving ta in the valley moved eato to bountiful which was then called north canyon ward or sessions settlement she abe bean bouse housekeeping keeping in a I 1 I 1 dwelling that resembled an indi ind an i she was mother of six children three of whom grew r rev to manhood and womanhood only two of whom survive her she S he has living thirty seven grandchildren seventeen males and twenty females one hundred and sixty one great grandchildren ell eighty h ty live five males and seventy six females twenty abree groat great grand grandchildren ell ildren the oldest eldest being ten years old nine males and fourteen females making a grand total of two hundred and twenty three living 0 posterity one hundred and twelve males and one hundred and eleven females in addition to her own family she has raised eight ei h t other child ren the funeral services will be held today friday FL oct lith in tho the east ward tabernacle at 2 p in apostle john henry smith is expected to be present and preach tho the funeral sermon I 1 her husband preceded her to the great beyond eleven years |
