Show WILL BE ARRESTED HARDWARE COMPA5TT ALLEGED TO HAVE BROICEX POWDER LUrE LUr-E E Dewey Loads Fifty BOICK of Hercules Taken From the Build luglie Is Arrested Hut Released Chief Pratt I < SHUC Instructions In the matter Instructions have been issued by the chief of police to Officers Randolph and Gillespie to swear t a complaint charging charg-ing the Salt Lake Hardware company with violating section 3 of chapter 16 Revised Re-vised Ordinances of Salt Lake city which reads On application being made to the city council in writing permits may be granted to sell gunpowder giant or Hercules Her-cules powder nitroglycerine or dynamite dyna-mite during the pleasure of the council F No person shall keep at his place of business to exceed 100 pounds of gunpowder which shall be in canisters and placed In a position from which It can be readily removed in case of fire No Giant or Hercules powder nitroglycerine nitrogly-cerine or dynamite shall be stored or kept at any other place than at the powder magazines provided that a sample of each not to exceed one pound of Giant or Hercules powder may be kept by obtaining ob-taining a permit therefor The cause for this action is based upon the observations of the two officers yesterday yes-terday afternoon A freighter named E E Dewey who lives at Draper and who makes a living by hauling goods from Salt Lake to Bingham was seen by the policemen in the act of loading fifty boxes of Hercules powder which had been taken from the store Dewey was taken to the station out released on condition that he take his load of explosives out of town at once Instructions for the arrest of President Clasby on a warrant were given at once |
