Show IS NO LONGER LONGERANY ANY DOUBT Bryan Will Receive Tellers Unqualified Un-qualified Support JUSTICE IS ON OUR SIDE SILVERS CAUSE IS THE CAUSE OF THE PEOPLE I I II I I I Teller Does Not Believe it Possible I That in Such a Contest Before the American People Justice Should Fail and Wrong Prevail Letter From the Great Silver Man Greatly Appreciated By the Nominee Nom-inee LINCOLN Neb July 18ThatWill iam J Bryan will receive the support of Henry M Teller of Colorado there can be no longer any doubt Mr Bryan Bry-an today received a letter from Senator Teller in which he told him he would support him in his race for president The letter reads as follows Denver Colo July 18 183G Hon W J Bryan Lincoln Neb Dear Sir1 congratulate you on your nomination at Chicago I think the country is to be congratulated also I need not assure you that your nomination nomin-ation was more than satisfactory tome to-me I think we shall be able to consolidate con-solidate the friends of free silver in your support and if we do this I believe be-lieve you will be elected although I do not overlook the tremendous power that will be put against us in this campaign All the power of money and organized wealth corporations and monopolies of all kinds will be against us Justice is on our side and this is the cause of the people It is a contest for industrial Independence and for freedom from the domination of foreign powers and foreign capitalists capital-ists and it does not seem possible that in such a contest before the American people that justice should fall and wrong prevail I do not believe we shall fail I think I can promise you the cordial support of the western silver sil-ver men who have heretofore acted with the Republican party and if you get that I think all the western coast and intermountain states will be with you I will not offer any suggestion to you save to advise you that as you were nominated without pledges of favor or privilege to anyone that you maintain that position and make no pledges or promises so that you may go into the great office of president of the United States without the embarrassment embar-rassment that follows pledges and promises even if they are such as may be properly carried out It will afford me pleasure to place myself at the I disposal of the national committee to i make speeches in your behalf as my i health will permit where and when I they may think I will do good I am very respectfully H M TELLER This letter greatly pleased Mr Bryan Bry-an When Mr Bryan had finished his breakfast this morning he turned his attention to the vast amount of mail that had accumulated during his absence I ab-sence There were bver 5000 letters to be opened and read and among the first to be opened was that from Mr Teller The letters were taken to Mr I Bryans home where he and his Tvif2 in their library began the arduous task of reading them Mr Bryan will not I attempt to answer all of them until he has established quarters and secured a private secretary He will only attend at-tend to the most important letters Mr Bryan was frequently interrupted by callers Among the gentlemen to call today was G F Washburn of Boston a member of the Populist national committee and T M Patterson editor of the Rocky Mountain News of Denver Den-ver verMr Patterson assured Mr Bryan that he would receive the support of all the Democrats of Colorado all the Populists and a great many Republicans Republi-cans as well He said he believed SO I per cent of the vote cast in Colorado would be for Bryan and free silver I Mr Patterson is a delegate to the j Populist convention at St Louis and I assured Mr Bryan that he would do I all in his power to have that convention conven-tion endorse him for president While Mr Patterson was talking to Mr Bryan Bry-an he received the following telegram from Forsythe Mont Four state bimetallic and Populist delegates are on board the train and favorable to you T HOFF Delegate from Oregon Extensive preparations are being made for the reception of the delegations delega-tions from Colorado Wyoming and Utah who will stop here Monday to pay their respects to Mr Bryan They will leave for St Louis Monday evening even-ing |
