Many people are anxious to know what method they must pursue to get back the county school taxes that were illegally collected from them As yet themethod to be adopted is not known Collector Spencer favors the plan of having the illegally collected school taxes refunded by his office directly to those who paid them He is prepared pre-pared to do this and is now waiting 4 I for an opinion from County Attorney j Van Cott on the question If this plan is adopted all that it will be necessary to do is to present ones tax receipt and receive the amount of county school taxes back This was the plan adopted by the school board some years ago In a similar case and it worked satisfactorily in every respect There is no necessity in the world to create a special fund out of which these illegal taxes shall be paid back which woud require that people go through all the red tape of making an affidavit as to the amount of taxes they had paid presenting a sworn claim for a rebate and then receiving a voucher for the amount and then having to wait probably to have it cashed The plan favored by Mr Spencer is certainly the businesslike one and should be adoptedif there is no legal objection to it
