Show TH THATCHER PETITION Shepard and Wilson Will Use Their Own Judgment Representatives Shepard and Wilson of Salt Lake who are both supporting Mr Rawlins for senator were interviewed inter-viewed last evening as to the course they intended to pursue with reference to the petition signed by delegates to the county convention Mr Shepard said The people nominated nom-inated me to use my best judgment and I am going to use i They thought they could trust me then There were about 13000 people who voted for me and I have no reliable authority from those 13000 that they want me to vote for any particular person I still presume pre-sume that they wish me to use my own judgment in the matter which I shall certainly do Mr Wilson said I was nominated without pledges or instructions on the senatorial question Since the election elec-tion I have given the question ques-tion due consideration and reached the conclusion that the Hon Joseph L Rawlins ould do more good for Utah and the Democratic party than any other candidate and for that reason I have been doing what T could for him His health his abil ity and experience make him entirely satisfactory to me and I am willing to take chances on voting for him until 1 he ii elected |
