Show WHAT AFTER DEATH CLOSING LECTURE BY BUBQHAH I HARDING LAST NIGHT Many Torture Themselves Unnecessarily Unneces-sarily Respecting Death the Fear of Which is Solely Founded on Ignorance Last night Burcham Harding gave tho concluding lecture of his fIles Notwithstanding Not-withstanding the inclement weather the audience was not small Tho subject of the lecture was What Happens After Death After a short introduction Mr Harding said Many torture themselves unnecessarily unnecessar-ily respecting death Setting out with the proposition that nothing can bp known after the breath leaves the body they conjure up dreadful possibilities and thus death is feared This fear is founded solely on Ignorance they are afraid of the unknown Theosophy sweeps away this ignorance and the dread arising from It An explanation Is given of mania nature showing what the change called death really is 1 and traces the immortal man into and through the states after death until once more he sttes born on earth The authority for Its doctrines is very great All the leading teachers of old I were agreed upon tho fuels Read tho sacred books of the Hindoos Chinese I Persians Egyptians Greeks and Hebrews I and all agree There were and are to day sages Initiates and masters who by great purity of life and entire devo ton to helping suffering humanity have acquired greater knowledge than Is Imwlerge common com-mon among human beings These have been able to pass into thee states and bring back knowledge concerning them Theosophy asks no one to accept any thing on authority but leaves each to determine for himself upon the evidence STATES AFTER DEATH The states rfter death may bo divided into two Kama Loca meaning ho ulace of desires and heaven When the body I If thrown off after death we are in Kama I Loca another state of matte r around this I eaith invisible to the physical eye but i apparent to some clairvoyants After a I period there another death takes place and the soul awakens In heaven remain I I Ing until it reincarnates Into another body on earth Earth life Is very important I Impor-tant for in It all new thoughts and at piratlons are formed every action leaves I a thought as a seed habits aro acn ilred i and character built After death nothing I new can be originated only tho earth I life is lived over again The states after death are IN reflection or the reproduction reproduc-tion of the lust earth life Heaven is to make the harvest of life immortal in the soul Man is n thinker and during waking hours Is always active sometimes creating thoughts of a lower nature tn ger envy hate and jealousy We pit I much thought into natural things a dally life and business At other times our actions lead to thoughts of love pity and compassion desires to help our fellow man and aspirations of a higher nature Tho book of tie recording angel Is a real thing no thought nor act but is recorded Thus at death we have bunt I up a thought body which Is n harvest of our life partly of a higher and partly I of a Irl lower fet When the physical i body is discarded this passes into Kama Loca I In this state the lower thoughts are thrown off that the higher may be released re-leased to pass to heaven The length I of stay depends upon the 5te Ogtnfl vitality put into the passions and desires during earth life The dominant desire formed on earth has full sway we are semiconscious without will automatons I i led hither and thither by the leading desire de-sire If attached to friends we shall be near them and can sometimes be seen If they are clairvoyant The desires gradually lose energy for there Is nobody I no-body though which to repeat them jind when sufficiently weakened the higher 1 can escape and awaken in heaven Those II passions and desires represent our sins that part of our character which has not yet been conquered Dying relieves us of them for a time only for they await our return to earth and are taken UD In another an-other body and we continue struggling with them Wo return to earth until the lower desires are completely controlled SUICIDES IN KARMA Victims of capital punishment and suicides I sui-cides are conscious in Kama Loca The various principles of mans constitution are born to cohere together for a certain period By a violent death he may get II rid of the physical body but the real man tho thinker Is not dead only transferred trans-ferred to Kama Loca and will remain I fully conscious and active in that sphere until he should have died in a normal wpy Full of anger hate and revenge they float about In tho sphere of tho i I mind and the senses seeking sensitives I mediums and weakminded people that they may control them to carry out their I own Ideas of rage and revenge upon humanity manity When the occult side of mans nature is more generally understood capital cap-ital punishment will be abolished Nai7 heaven is reached the place of rest and reward for tho soul essentially a state of happiness Its duration we are told varies greatly for individuals the average being from 1000 to 1500 years Here the higher thoughts alone are pres eat At death tho whol pas life is reviewed viewed and the keynote Is struck of Its dominant trend and aim Divide the past life into two that part appertaining to mundine and peltish affairs which have been left In Kama Loca and the higher aspirations and thoughts which form the basis of heavenly existence As In a dream friends nnd scenery are vivid and real PO are we in heaven surrounded by nip thoughts until the soul assimilates them and they become permanent as I character The thoughts of earth life are seeds which take root and grow in heaven all that relates to the soul blossoms I blos-soms there We live surrounded by the I I friends of earth lifo repeating past cx i I periences We left the lower nature in KTII Loca our conception of it is I lost 1 friends are therefore idealized Bodily t and mental di nitie ° are torgQgn only higher ch j ucterbitjs are retRlpelh Convinced that thre is such thing as i death we realize iur hfgnest Ideals the loftiest conceptions ut the noblest aspira I tons formed on earth No happier heaven than this can be conceived for I each realizes his loftiest Ideals On earth we spin the silk and In heaven weave it Into the vesture of the soul On earth we I form the thoughts and aspirations and In heaven we Build them into the soul and i they become immortal Existence Is thus continuous in the earth life is formed the groundwork of aspirations and In heaven the soul the architect molds the plan returning to earth to build Man Is really Immortal only changing his states of consciousness When this Is understood un-derstood death will be no more feared than is sleep By a tudy of the conditions 0 heaven Us happiness may be reproduced hero on earth The passions and desires must be controlled for they cause all suffering and misery Friends may be Idealized It is better to dwell upon their mod than their bad qualities We may learn to make the soul our guide here us it is In heaven Theosophy restores to tho world this knowledge which is free and open to all who will read and study Everyone has his own Iminortal soul his own master by following Its guidance this the happiness world of heaven is attainable In I |
