| Show THE CONSOLIDATED M CO A Brigham Mine That is Looked Upon With Suspicion Brigham City Utah Jan 16A few weeks ago the Consolidated Mining and Milling company whose properties are located in the extreme too of the mountains about four miles north of Brigham completed a great bucket tramway I connects the elevated mine with the valley below and is several thousand feet in length I is said to have cost 16000 A great many people peo-ple went out on the county road to Lake Side to see the initial run of this novel piece of mechanism for these parts The trial run was made on a Sunday A few tons of ore were successfully suc-cessfully run down and the tram seemed to make a successful start But the starting seemed also to be the ending end-ing Since then but a few bucketfuls have been sent down although at the time it was promised that shipping of ore would begin at once So Lar that at once has not come to hand A few days after the completion of the tram it was announced by the presidents pres-idents representative in charge that H C Baker president of the company had practically completed negotiations whereby he would dispose of his entire controlling interest in these mines to some unnamed eastern men for a good round sum Since then nothing is known of the present status of affairs af-fairs Great claims for the mine have been spread over the east manv bought its stock and by the way they are sending in letters of inquiry they seem to doubt whether or not they have been biting at a bad bait Most of them inquire if the Union Pacific rail way has yet completed the switch over to the lower end of the tram which leads one to believe that such a report has been sent out to these bewildered buyers Inquiry shows that the railroad road company has never competed such a move The fact that for a longtime long-time no one except employees have been permitted to mote than peep into the 1200foot tunnel gives a rather suspicious sus-picious look to the whole affair Still it is an undeniable fact that from some of this companies properties very rich ore has been taken from near the surface ha1 was bj other parties who sold to the company This mysterious mys-terious company also continues working work-ing quite a large force of men in the tunnel running night and day shifts This has been done for several years I it really amounts to anything it ought to show up pretty suddenly and if there is to be an explosion it ought to come soon The present state of uncertainty un-certainty cannot continue forever |
