departed if this liis life at aier ter home sunday morning nl at aa hnidec in ni Dec of old age she was born in holliston mass dec 28 1811 she had a great agrest desire for an education and was ivas willing to do most anything to obtain it by economy and perseverance she succeeded in attending the bradford and amherst seminaries in after years she often wished she could again artand school and it was a common thing for her to inquire of her grandchildren how they were getting along with their schools site she taught 13 for several years both before and after marriage which calling she was much devoted to at one time the prophets Prophet 9 and ami patriarchs children were her pupils patriarch john smiths spelling f furnished urn an amusing 0 incident of which she used to tell from her youth she was religiously inclined in lined while attending 17 one of the gem seminaries she in connection with several other young lady school mates matea used to meet at regularly appointed times and sing 0 talk and pray in regard to jesus she was waa chosen their leader was also a sunday school teacher and a very active and much respected member if af the 0 which her father was tile tho deacon after baptized by willard richards was strongly opposed by her father who afterwards ads joined the church the next fall she bid her relatives reh tives and friends goodby good by and in connection with her little niece of eight years started for far west mis a distance of 1500 miles to join the main body of the saints removed from there to quincy illinois where she met for the first time israel barlow whom she after wards married on the of feb 1840 from here she moved to nauvoo where she in connection with her husband labored in the nauvoo temple after being driven by a mob from their home and property which they afterwards sold tor a song they started for the rocky with an AD ox team in brigham youngs company on in connection with her father john haven and four sisters while crossing the plains she gave birth to a son arriving in salt lake C city ty in the fall of forty eight where they lived for two years and then ro re moved to bountiful with the first settlers where she has ever since ro ra sided with the exception of two years white while her husband was on a mission to europe A few months after his departure she gave birth to a pair of twin boys during the move south in 58 occasion her six grandsons acted as pall bearers bishop call said the funeral was held beldi in east bountiful because she had become accustomed to taking an active part in the ward before they were
