Show A PHETTY SOCIABLE The Y P S C E Gives a Flag Party at Hammond Hall A very pleasant sociable was that of the Young Peoples Society of Christian Endeavor En-deavor given at Hammond hall last evening The hal was pretty decorated with flags and the charming youn ladies added to tho funds of the society by selling stands of the national emblem at reduced rates that left a nice profit Refreshments of ice cream strawberries and dainty cake were served by the maidens The society numbers fifty workers Mr C H Parson being the president Miss Leo Mayan vicepresident Miss Maude Smith secretary and Mr Charles Savory treasurer Miss Leo Mayne was one of the active workers last evening and when told by THE HERALD reporter that it was a rule of the Shrmers to never keep any money in tho treasury for fear the treasurer would run away the bright little girl blushed with surprise but was quick to reply Oh we are not at all like them and then added Our treasurer wouldntrun away I I She also told THE HERALD that this was the I first pay sociable they have had it being I their custom to give free sociables so that more of the boys will come The society has undertaken to meet the expenses of the church publication and the II profits of last nights sociable will be devoted de-voted to this purpose |
