Show HEBEtt CYCLE Houses Unroofed and Sheep Silled A Hotel Robbery HEBER CITy Jan 81A cyclone swept through our town last night at about 11 oclock doing considerable damage The I roofs were taken from quite a number of dwelling houses and several barns and I graneries were blown down It came I from a southwesterly direction first I taking effect on George Harbours residence resi-dence the roof being completely lifted off i and set in the street The iron railing was torn from the roof of the new schoolhouse school-house then tha barn of William Mc Millen was blown down The next were the houses of Isaac and John Cummings jr they shared the same fate the roofs and all being taken down to the square Following the same direction the hurricane hur-ricane struck the house of Robert Mc Night jr which was also considerably damaged The east side of the roof was blown off and landed into Lake creek half a block from the house The last but not the least was William Averetts large log house and granary which was twisted and torn to pieces Fortunately there was no one hurt Many trees were uprooted fences laid flat old building and wellcurbs were upset from one end of the town to the other in the l track of the cyclone Center also felt the effect of the storm but to what extent we have not learned except that a shed belonging to John Austin wa blown down killing about forty head of sheep Our quarterly conference was held last I Saturday and Sunday Apostle J H Smith and Elder J G Kimball wero present and gave the people some very I good advice I A HOTEL ROBBERY There was quite an excitement raised hero last Thursday through the disappearance disap-pearance of a young man by the name of Bert Emery He was doing chores at the Minor hotel Before going to bed he was told by the landlady Mrs Stevenson to awaken Mr Nemo a shift boss from the Ontario mine at a certain hour but when the time arrived Bert was missing also 150 in gold from Mr Nemos pocket The officers were at once sent in pursuit but too late for when reaching Provo they found thatEmery had taken the train for Denver |
