Show A SCORE 01 CITIES From All of Which Come Disheartening S Reports MILWAUKEE Sept 15 Dispatches this morning from a score of northern S Wisconsin cities tell stories of great losses by forest fires Marshfield Junction Dexterville Prentice Spencer Medford Rhlnelander Stevens Point and other places with a population of 1000 to 6000 are surrounded by flames and nre in the greatest danger of being be-ing wiped out Everything between Dabier Wood county and Necedah Janeau county on the Milwaukee St Paul railway i burned r c Dexterville is threatened with annihil ation Hundreds of scattered dwellings are known to be in the path of the flames and doubtless burned No loss of life la reported but that all the settlers in the burned district escaped is impossible Every square mile of that vast timbered district of Wisconsin is aa dry as tinder the flames sweeping without with-out a check The losses will doubtless run Into millions The district already al-ready fire swept and that threatened includes in-cludes nearly onethird of the state of Wisconsin is overhung by 1 pall of amok e reaching from Lake Michigan to Lake Superior and from the extreme eastern east-ern border of the atate to the Mississippi S river |
