Show THE STUDENTS SOCIETY The Theory of Evolution by Dr J E Talmage Another session of the Students society of the Latterday Saints college was held at tho Social ha last Friday evening The opening selection was a vocal solo sweetly rendered by Miss Maude Bowring Principal Prin-cipal Dr J E Talmago then delivered a lecture on The Theory of Evolution The noted originators and advocates of evolution Button Erasmus Darwin Charles Darwin Huxley Dana and others were freely quoted to show the true theory of evolution with whom even the chasm between things living and things dead but widened at each advancing step The dif ference between true and false evolution a difference so necessary to be understood by members of the community of Latter day Saints at the present time was clearly pointed out Evidences were adduced proving that the distinct differences now existing between I man and animals had ever existed that no intermediate intellect had ever been known that not a single instance of transition tran-sition from one form into another had been proven and that every fact in the controversy contro-versy points to mans divine origin Comment Com-ment however but does injustice to both the lecture and lecturer By those privi leged to hear it it will long be remembered for its clear exposition of the evolutionists position and for the valuable truths it proves Miss Jenta Smith performed with exquisite ex-quisite skill on the piano and instructor J J Walton contributed to the mirth of the audience in the reading of I Darius Green and His Flying Machine day The final session will be held next Fri |
