Show CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLEMENT J B Fislilciprh Areited at Ogdcn on Request of Marshal Pratt J B Fishleigh of the firm of Fish leigh Snow was detained In Ogden last night by Chief of Police Davenport at the request of Chief of Police Pratt on the charge of embezzlement though the charge may be changed this morn ing when Fdshleigh will be brought back to the city Last evening Mr Snow the other member of the firm reported at police Headquarters that his partner had just left the city taking with him 40 of the firms money and several smaller amounts which he had borrowed from various persons upon one pretense or another At his request Chief Pratt sent a message to Ogden asking the chief there to meet the train upon which Fishleigh had taken passage for the east and detain the man until fur ther orders About 10 oclock an answer an-swer was received to the effect that ithe arrest ha been made and the desired de-sired man was in the city jail I seems from the story of Mr Snow that the firm was about on the eve of opening an extensive meat fish and game market in a stall of the Conti nental market Yesterday Fishleigh repented re-pented that he had loaned a friend 20 of the firms money and taken his check for the amount as security I afterwards after-wards developed that the check was signed with a fictioious name and that no such person was known at the bank upon which the check was drawn Fish leigh took the night train for the east and while at the depot borrowed 3 from a gentleman stating that he desired de-sired t pay a freight bill Mr Snow afterwards found out that there was 40 of the firms money gone instead of 20 as stated by Fishleigh Today the change of shifts in the I police department will occur and with it will come several other changes Drills are to be resumed and Harry Ford has been detailed a drill master This is deemed necessary on account of the new and undrilled officers who have recently been added to the department depart-ment Then again there are several old members of the force who are as unskilled un-skilled in the ant of marching as the new and they will be initiated into the I art of keeping their feet in time with those of the other members of the squad S I The heavy caps which have only been In vogue for a short time are to be 5 tle I r Sc discarded In favor of the old derby In lookIng over the ordinance providing for a police uniform the chief found that the derby was the regulation and the order for the change was consequently conse-quently issued Naturally the boys are complaining somewhat for the reason rea-son that they were forced to buy the caps which are now rendered comparatively compara-tively worthies although almost new The new men of the department have nearly all been put on the night or graveyard shift as they are without with-out uniforms and would therefor fail to make the showing desired Their uniforms however will be ready in a short time |
