| Show KNIGHTS PYTHIAS Proceedings of the Grand Gathering Gather-ing at Kansas City The Review of the Ritual Occupies Most of the Alt nton of the Supreme Lodge Officers to Be Elected Today KANSAS CIT Aug 24The Knights of Pythiaa drilling at Camp Shaw began promptly at 9 oclock this morning and will continue each day of the encampment The supreme lodge held its second session ses-sion today The work consisted princi pally of the consideration of the reports of he various supreme officers At the morning session the routine business busi-ness not disposed of yesterday was taken up Twelve aspirants for the honors of the supreme lodge rank were admitted and the rank conferred Chancellor Shaw announced appoint mentsto nil vacancies on several standing committees The most important report of the morn I ing was that of the committee on distribution distribu-tion and assignments At 1 oclock the supreme lodge resolved itself into committee com-mittee ot the whole to discuss the report of the committee on rules At tbe noon recess the report was not more than half completed com-pleted and at the afternoons session it was again taken up It occupied the attention at-tention of the supreme body all the afternoon after-noon to theexqiusion of all other business Tonight a special session is being held At this session an interesting performance took place which can be witnessed only by I tbe officers of the supreme lodge an exemplification I ex-emplification of the new ritual cS5 Two years ago a committee of five was appointed to revise the ritual Since its appointment eight meetings of the committee commIt-tee have been held and its perfected work will be shown for the first time at the Scottish Rite hal tonight In the revision of the ritual which is one of the moat important things to come before be-fore the supreme lodge at this session the entire Pythian world is concerned and the exemplification ol the new ritual tonight will show whether it is a sufficient improvement im-provement over the present one to be adopted by the supreme lodge The report re-port of the committee was not finally noted upon tonight Tomorrow the supreme lodge will elect officers for tbe Doming two years Supreme Chancellor Shaw will retire with the honorable title of past supreme chancellor He will be succeeded bj Wil lam Worth Blackwoll of Kentucky now subremo vicechancellor For supreme vicechancellor Walter B Ritchie of Limn O supreme representative from his state and Eli T Blackmer of San Diego Cal supreme prelate of the supreme lodge are candidates Well informed Pythiana soy that Ritchie will be chosen tomorrow and two years hence he will become supreme 1 chancellor PYTHIAN SISTERS The supreme temple of Pythian Sisters held a abort session today The supreme chief Mrs Ida M Weaver delivered her biennial address giving a review of the reports re-ports of the other chief officers Mrs M D Wood supreme mistress of records and correspondence reported that the order now had a membership of 18000 the increase in-crease in the last nine months having been 7000 The supreme mistress or finance Miss Emma B Bacon of Canton 0 presented pre-sented a report showing a balance in the treasury of 13900 |
