Show GABDEN CITY NEWS > II i wnisj THE DISTRICT COURT IS s DOIXG S I < Alma Hagues Case Sow Before the I Grand Jni tA t Burglar Sentenced to Seven Years in i the Peniten tlnry < 1J Prove March 6In the district court today the following business was transacted L J J Booth plead not guilty to the charge of embezzlement l James H Kl r entered a plea of guilty to the charge of unlawful cohabitation co-habitation and he will be sentenced on March 12 E T Sumner plead guilty toJ1the charge of an assuault with a dfcJdly weapon and was sentenced to pay a fine of 100 or to be confined in the county jail of Uintah county for 100 days James M Martin entered a plea of I not guilty to the crime of fornication and his case was continued for the term In the case of the People vs Peter Peterson charged with stealing sheep defendant entered a plea of not guilty And his case was set for April 2 The case of the People vs Abner Kcfford et al is set for April 2 Mrs Ellen Pearson of Goshen was granted a divorce this morning from her husband H H Pearson on the grounds of desertion Mr Pearson will be remembered by a great many people peo-ple in Utah as the person charged with the killing of one of he Green boys at Nephi a few years ago At the time of his trial he received con siderable notoriety on account of the defense made by his attirn v AIV Highton of San Francisco Insanity was set up and several weeks were oc cupied in the trial of the case De fen ant was found guilty of involun tary manslaughter and sentence was suspended In 1890 he left Utah and from then until now his devoted wife has learned nothing of his where abouts James B Edmonds today took jUdg ment against J V Jones et at for 55394 and 5539 attorneys foes This is a suit on a promissory note George Parmello yesterday plead guilty to the crime of burglary He waived time of sentence and was at once given seven years in the Utah penitentiary There has been considerable activity around the grand jury room today and the general impression is that every energy is being exerted in the Hague matter but up to the present time as far as is known no indictments indict-ments have been returned Invitations are out for a social ball to be given March 9 by the A O U W Garden city lodge One of our respected citizens Mr O H Berg recived word yesterday from Ephriam that his 18 year old daugh ter died suddenly yesterday of heart disease The young lady was visiting a married sister in that city and her untimely death caused the most pro found sorrow in her family and among her numerous friends L S Hills of the Deseret National bank of Salt Lake visited the Garden city today It is supposed he was a witness in the Hague case James Clinton the sheepman was in town today Johnny Hickman is up from Nephi today George C Whitmore of Nephi was seen on our streets today The Oxford club will give another of I their pleasant parties on Thursday evening It has been quite intry with us during the past few days |
