Show I The editors of the Rockford Ill t Star recently turned their paper over to the Ladies Union Aid society of I that place that they might issue it once for their own benefit The staff of the ladies edition was composed of I women well known in society circles of that pretty town and j they got out avery a-very creditable paper To be sure the reporters had to be chaperoned to I fires and the police court and the po lice reporter got her replevins and I jags mixed up while the sporting I editor confused dead balls with I handicaps but the women asked for no allowances and the paper if not exactly according to Hoyle was at least picturesque as becomes the pic turesque sex From a financial point of view it was a great success for as soon as outside advertisers got wind of it they ordered space at advanced rates and orders from surrounding towns poured in for hundreds of extra copies I |
