Show THOSE WYOMING LANDS They May Yet Go Back to the Government Denver April 19A Washington special to the News says Relative to the certification to Wyoming of 15512 acres of lards selected by tha state under the grant from Congress on account ac-count of the deaf dumb and blind asylum of Laramie county which lands I is alleged were taken in the center of the Silver Crown mining district dis-trict and hence were mineral and not liable to settlement under the act general land officials say the selections selec-tions had been properly and legally certified to Everything at the interior department depart-ment showed the law had been scrupulously scrupu-lously observed and with the secre tarys approval the title to the listed lands passed from the government completer com-pleter to Wyoming Latterly however a motion of the review of the secretarys order of approval ap-proval was filed in the general land L i office with accompanying affidavits and papers alleging that the lands were mineral and had been fraudulently fraudu-lently certified as nonmineral The motion papers were at once forwarded to the secretary and are now under considera I is the understanding that having passed the title the interior department depart-ment cannot revoke its action and is without jurisdiction unless it be to canon can-on the state to convey the land and if reconveyance be refused to request the attorneygeneral to bring suit to enforce en-force this remedy The fact that regular mining has been performed in this district for many years and hundreds of claims filed with the county clerks offices is not known to the records of the interior department but in the event it shall be shown that these selected lands were mineral and were known to have been mineral when selected upon which claims had been filed under the local laws and the annual amount of improvements im-provements required by the federal laws duly performed the state will undoubtedly un-doubtedly be compelled to reconvey and select other nonmineral lands in lieu I leu |
