Show TH DEADLY JttUID A Horse Killed Throuzh Coming Into Contact Con-tact with the Wires Yesterday afternoon as telephone linemen line-men were stringing a heavy wire along First South street a man named Titcomb who lives at Mill Creek drove down First East street The wire of the telephone company was on the ground and as Tit comb approached he was ordered to stop Hq either didnt hear what was said to him or else did not caro for ho paid no attention but went ahead As a result his horse ran up against the telephone wire forced that up against the feed wiro of the street car company received a shock and died in two minutes The man jumped out of the wagon as his horse fell and was making towards tho wire with the intention Inten-tion evidently of taking hold of it with his bare hands and releasing his horse That he would have caught hold of it is certain but a telephone employee caught him justin just-in time to prevent him doing so and no doubt saved Titcomb from serious I not fatal injuries The current was communicated communi-cated to the telephone wires on the Deseret Bauk building where considerable damage was done but owing to the recent imprvements made I the current did not reach tho switchboard switch-board as on a former occasion From onehundred to onehundred and fifty telephones ware rendered useless however and it will probably be this evening before they are repaired The damage will drobably reach twohundred dollars I is understood that the company will pay Mr Titcomb the value of the horse Mr Wallace said yesterday that while he did not think tho company was legally laDle for tho death of the animal Titcomb had been repeatedly warned to not get too close to tho wire still ho understood Titcomb was a poor man and they had no desire to put him to any in convience or expense in the matter |
