| Show TH LEGISLATURE Both Houses Held Brief Sessions Yesterday There WU be no Session Tomorrow on Account of Washingtons Birthday Some Bills Massed The House met yesterday morning and the Council met in tho afternoon Some few members were absent in each body The Council A bill for tim appointment of a territorial I territo-rial statistician C F 64 substitute first I came up in the Council This bill provides i for tho appointment of a statistician and deputies in the several counties who shall be under his direction The statistics which shall include the number of firms the acreage under cultivation the different kinds of fruit raised and the total amount thereof and proportionate amount to the acre and the number each of the different domestic animals in the territory shall be published every three years unaer the direction di-rection of the territorial statistician EXCUSED The sergeantatarms was excused from duty to attend the funeral of William King his fatherinlaw Greaves was also excused The journal reading was dispensed with FROM Tnt HOUSE A House communication announced the passage of C F 49 relating to mayors and probate judges and H F SS attaching part of south Uintah county to Grand county and the rejection of C J 1 5 introduced in-troduced by Buskin relating to the incorporation incor-poration of an antipolycamy clause in tho constitution of the United States The House asked for a conference committee com-mittee to consider amendments made on were the liquor appointed license bill Mellville and Lund ENROLLED The enrollment committee reported the proper action on C F 86 an act allowing poor persona to commence and prosecute fuits on C F 33 an aot providing for the payment of jurors and witnesses ana ds fining the duties of court commissioners and U F 26 appointing the first Monday in September as Labor Day and a legal holiday Adopted A SUBSTITUTE The statistics committee reported back a l substitute for C F < providing for a bureau of statistics Adopted The bill camo up for second reading and on motion of Evans tho rules were suspended and tho bill was passed unanimously A special order C P No 62 the bond bill then came up for its third reading and Baskin proposed an amendment from 200000 to MUOOOO but on motion of Evans the bill was made a special order for next Thursday The table was announced to be cleared and the Council adjourned until Tuesday at2p m I |
