Show DIFFERENCE OF OPINION There appears to bo a very wide difference differ-ence of opinion among the delegations vho have visited Washington as representatives representa-tives of the different local parties regarding regard-ing the prospects of the Home Rule bill There is substantial agreement however as to the statehood bill all admitting that efforts in its behalf have been labor thrown away The Liberal boss rushes Into print with columns of praise for himself and his associate who was so sadly crushed in the committee rooms and declares that the f ACLKNEU bill will not pass he oven goes to the extent of expressing doubt that it will be reported by the Senate committee on territories Of course he takes credit for having done the business for the measure On the other hand all our information is to the effect that the Home Rule bill is not merely certain to pass the House but it is tbpass it almost any day under a suspension of the rules so well satisfied are the members of the justice of the measure and so unanimous are they in its support Every Democratic Senator with a single exception is committed to the bill I and several Republicans aro outspoken in 1 its favor among these latter being at least one said by tho Liberal boss to be opposed to it Senator Dunois of Idaho is on record rec-ord as advocating the bill and unless hems he-ms changed his mind within a very few bouts he is working for it very enthusiastically enthusi-astically The returned Liberal delegate has the effrontery to intimate that the bill will not come from tile Senate committee on territories whereas eight or the eleven members of that committee do not hesitate to say the measure has their approval Hon J L I RAWLISS of the Democratic delegation who has just returned from the capital thinks there is not the least doubt of tho bills early passage saying it will go through supported by nil the Democratic votes and a good many Republicans Tho other members of the Democratic delegation delega-tion have left Washington and are en route for home content with the prospect 1 I and satisfied that it is unnecessary for them to remain longer at the capital as the bill has more than enough supporters to pass it We Imagine the Liberal boss is talking for the purpose of making those who pay him think he has earned his money |
