Show ASTOBIOIGHJflfiK anfterger Breaks Utah Oil From 25 to 15 Cents A SCENE IN THE STOCK PIT Vampler JIauls Bambercer Stock And Is Quoted Clear Out of bight As a John Sullivan Broker There were more deals on the stock ex change yesterday than the members had bargained for and some transactions wore decidedly irregular and more becoming a barroom than the floor of the stock ex change Bamberger as usual was the life of the exchange and his plucky persistent way of hammering the bulls was greatly admired ad-mired by a large crowd of spectators who oodnaturedly enjoyed the circus A little introduction to the programme vas made by Bambereer selling 1000 Apex to Stevenson at 192 and 100 Malad to Vampler at OS The fur began to fly when Utah Oil was taken up It was hinted yesterday that Jamberger had got hold of a big batch of Utah Oil and was going to break the mar keL Davis made a nice little sale of 500 to Kullak at 25 when Bamberger jumped in and hammered the life out of it and when he got through there was scarcely a grease pot left Jako Bamborger is devilish sly and usually knows what he is doing He has graduated through the New York lock exchange and when he catches a man short he believes in squeezing him for all here is in him Utah Oil which had been sporting very gaily among its friends for two days at 32 by Bambergers persistent selling declined to 15 cents more than one mlf of its value disappearing into the air Wampler bought 100 at 17 100 at 20100 at i n hit tVin ctnr lr r nntirmPfl wplr TVfi week came to the rescue by buying 5000 shares but Bamberger seemed to have plenty to sell and piled another 5000 and 1000 more on Treweek at the same price Stevenson took in 500 shares at ono lick and 1000 at another clip from Bambergar but Utah Oil did not recover re-cover This big break was hard on the longs and among them Wampler was caught having a couple of days previous bought 5000 shares from Bamberger at 30 seller 35 It is the custom of the exchange to call for a margin on every decline of ten cents and Bamberger made the the demand de-mand Wampler wilting out his check Bamberger sent his settling clerk to the bank stating that the bank refused to cash it Bambercer called Wampler to one side and informed him of the fact Wampler grew furious and began to announce it as a mean contemptible trick asserting that it was not custutnary to send in the check until change was over Bamberger claimed that tie had accepted an uncertified uncerti-fied check and had a right to his money Wampler became very abusive and the secretary called him to order He went out and deposited drafts he had in his pecket and came back to the pit to tell Bamberger that he now could get his blamed money One word grew into another an-other until there was a string of adjectives that set heavily on the Hebrew race The conliab resulted in Louis Bamberger being considerably bunged up In fact all the Bambergers were scattered around like coffee sacks pitched from a dray to the pavement It wasnt because they hankered hank-ered for a fight as they are not built that way and are most peacable citizens The rampus was forced on them It was a commercial com-mercial transaction grew out of one When I give my stocks I want my money is a character of their race and of quite a good many sharp Gentiles as well Wampler persisted that it was a mean dirty trickand that he could lick the whole tribe of the Bambergers in fact he ached to do it Louis Bamberger couldnt stand such braggadocio It went against the grain to be called a miserable little puppy and to nave certain of the sacred customs of his his people alluded to in an unchristian way and when Wampler tucked at his coat sleeves and rolled his eyes and repeated re-peated I can lick the whole race of you Louis could hold in no longer He was inclined in-clined to think Wampler a brag While Wampler was a big man his waist was bigger around than his chest and he was no good physically He was liable to give out at the critical moment thought Louis TJna cVinrt wimlpfl nod his muscles are flabby maybe be aint ne good on earth and no man need fear to tackle him Hes an incumbrance to himself a great big bully He ought to train and get down to fighting trim If Louis mused that way he mnde a mistake That he did not take that notice of Wamplcrs herculean proportions pro-portions is quite certain as he looked around him twice to see who was to back him in bringing down the Galiath There was Jake and Simon and the private secretary secre-tary four to one Louis made a step forward for-ward and Wampler drew up his pile driver and extended it sending Louis Bamberger stock rolling about the pit Jake quick as a Hash was there but somehow went down before Waniplers battering rams The private scarcely made a pretty pass by one of Wamplers sledcehammer blows and was about to fasten on his back when Wampler shook him oil and sent him sprawling to the floor For half a minute Bambergers were falling thick and fast and Wamplers battery was playing as prettily as ever Outsiders seeing that a pitched battle j was going on rushed in and in a minute the Jumbo ot the pit was docile as a hippo t potamus up to his belly in waler Leu s I Bamberger with one side of his face shoved back around his ear came to the conclusion that Wamplor was a hard man to get at In fact they had been looking for him but could not find him His tremendous tre-mendous drive was in the way of a genuine fight and ho tcok the mean advantage of tacking up into the corner When tne skirmish was over everybody believed there was nothing flabby about Wamplers biceps and that you could crack hickory nuts on his chest neither did his wind give out at the critical moment If the entire stock exchange had come up to him man at a time he would have piled them up in a heap It was u pretty drive he cave to his tiemendous punchers and all the prize fighters when making their charges must hereafter except John Sullivan Sulli-van Wampler The fight was a disgrace to the stock ex change floor and the vicepresident very properly got up and announced that Wam or was suspended from the floor of tbi stock exchange On looking up the rules i appears that the only power given to to presiding officer is to fine an offending member mem-ber 10 and that charges must bo filed ha fore the directors who may at their du creton suspend a member thirty days anon < an-on a repetition ol the same offense ho ma be suspended indefinitely The following were yesterdays sales = = tAstE 0 I 70 b 2 70 it 2
