FOR EIGHTY ACRES The CascJ Involving the Land Near Kamas SHERIFF BURT GETS A VERDICT A Suit for Damages Against the Telephone Company The Joab Lawrence Estate Wins The trial of the case of Joseph Ware vs Julia Honeck involving the the title to eighty acres of land situated near Kamas was concluded in the Third district court yesterday morning and the jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant In the case Andrew J Burt vs Henry Davis in which the plaintiff sued to recover 150 and a horse judgment was rendered for the plaintiff In the case of P D Murphy vs James Stockdale et al the defendant was allowed until December 1 to file a statement on a motion for a new trial The case of Franklin M Hill vs the Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone company came up for trial in the afternoon A G Norrell and Judge McDowall appeared for the plaintiff while P L Williams appeared for the defendant The plaintiff claimed that while working for the telephone company com-pany on June 22d 18S9 he was ordered to assist in settling a telephone pole when a wire which partly sustained it broke and the pole fell upon the plaintiff crushing his skull permanently injuring his hearing hear-ing and eyesight For these injuries he now sues to recover 20000 damages The case will go to the jury today
