One of the ablest candidates for Speaker is Hatch of Missouri a great debater and a man who is popular on both sides of the House of Representatives Ho has a fine presence and a voice as clear as B bell His mental resources and dexterity in their use use are extraordinary 1 w n HATCH Mr Hatch first saw the light in Scott county Ky more than fiftyeight years ago Ho received a good education at Lexington Lex-ington Ky and in 1854 was admitted to the bar In 185S he was elected circuit attorney attor-ney of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Missouri and was elected to the same office in November 1800 HOfought in the Confederate army and rose in the service to be assistant commissioner of exohang under the cartel His life at Washington began with the Fortysixth Congress In which he made his mark Every succeeding succeed-ing election has continued him in his seat
